Passport Now Required For Travel to Bermuda
Canadian citizens are now required to present a valid passport when entering Bermuda. Historically, Canadians were the only nationals permitted to enter Bermuda by presenting a long-form birth certificate with valid photo-id as proof of citizenship in lieu of a valid passport. However, in order to standardize the process, as of May 1st, the Bermuda Department of Immigration is requiring all Canadian air travellers to present a valid passport. Are you travelling to Cuba this year - As of May 01, 2010 Travel insurance with Medical coverage will be needed!
If yes, it's important to know that an agreement was reached by the Council of Cuban Ministries that beginning May01/10 travel insurance with medical coverage will need to be purchased to travel in Cuba. Make sure to call us if you need additional travel insurance!
Mexico confirms passports needed as of March 1, 2010
Canadian citizens travelling to Mexico will need valid passports as of March 1, the Mexico Tourism Board announced January 20th, 2010.
Permanent residents in this country, in turn, will be required to present either a permanent resident card or certificate of identity or refugee travel document. The tourism board says the move aligns Mexico with all the security measures established by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Visas won’t be required for either Canadian citizens or permanent residents of this country. Meanwhile, the tourism board said that the move isn’t likely to affect many people as out of the 1.2 million Canadian tourists that visited Mexico in 2009, only 10,000 didn’t have a passport.
